What is obesity?

Obesity is one such problem with which more than 1 billion people all over the world are being affected on the annual basis.  In regard to the medical terms, obesity is basically an enhancement in the adipose tissues of the body.

Obesity brings with itself lot many complex and serious health problems such as heart diseases, diabetes, hypertension and cancers also in some cases.  As per the survey done by British NHS by the year 2025, over 300 million are expected to suffer from the problem of obesity.

There are various different ways with which obesity is measured, but the most common one is the BMI method or the Body mass index method.

In this the height to body weight ratio is calculated to find if a person is obese.   If the BMI measure of a person comes out to be thirty or more than that, the person is concerned as obese.

Obesity Comes With Many Emotional Aspects

As the obese people start to consider them as inferior to others, it can be said that this problem brings along huge emotional disturbances.

The obese people tend to start leading a lazy and lethargic life considering that they do not have the physical appearance and the fitness that they are supposed to have.

Many obese people are also prone to stress related health disorders as they start feeling that they are facing narrow-mindedness or any kind of discrimination in their job or at their homes.  It has been seen that in obese people the feelings of refusal, embarrassment and hopelessness are quite common.

Understanding warning signs of obesity

We all know that obesity does not happens overnight, but still most of us miss to take it seriously until and unless it presents a major health related issue.  Anyone who notices that the body weight is increasing tremendously; it is the right time to seek advice from a doctor or a dietician.

One needs to comprehend that each and every calorie that is going into the body is adding up to the body weight, it there is lack of physical activity.

The time one sees that the body weight in increasing, one needs to think of the diet that one is consuming as at this point of time only a balanced diet can help one get rid off that excess body weight.

One has to bring an increase in the physical activities as only this is going to stop the calories from accumulating on the various body parts.
